Read our review of The Wine Loft at Le Bistro in Norwich, a stylish dining room complete with contemporary menu and extensive wine list. Don't miss the salted caramel cheesecake with dark chocolate jelly and banana ice cream for dessert...

In a Nutshell

An airy, contemporary dining room at a landmark Norwich restaurant.

The menu is divided into four sections: starters, mains, sides and desserts. It specialises in fish and seafood dishes, with a few veggie and carnivore delights thrown in for good measure. For the more indecisive diner, there are gorge-board-style sharing platters on offer. Desserts range from classic cheese and biscuits through to treats such as dark chocolate truffle and summer fruit parfait.

Who's Cooking?

Local chefs who are passionate about Norfolk produce and know exactly what to do with it.

Must-Order Dishes

Juicy tiger prawns with chilli and garlic served over toasted sourdough bread is a divine start to any meal, followed by to die for duck breast with caramelised plums as a main. The duck is crispy on the outside yet unbelievably tender in the middle, and goes perfectly alongside a glass of Spanish red wine. End with the most indulgent of desserts: salted caramel cheesecake with dark chocolate jelly and banana ice cream.

What We're Going Back For

After visiting for a delectable dinner, the natural inclination is to come back for another three courses as soon as possible. Failing that, their express lunch offers a menu of smaller plates served at a fast pace on weekdays.

What's the room like?

The cosy third-floor dining room overlooks Norwich Market and features just six tables, so booking ahead is definitely recommended. It’s decorated in bright, contemporary style with kitschy wall murals that celebrate Norwich’s vibrant history - from the ancient saints of the city through to the legendary local mustard, Colman’s.

What We Loved

A well-considered menu, mouthwatering dishes, and friendly, fast and personal service make The Wine Loft a place to return to often. And the intimacy and vibrancy of the dining room gives a special night out feel, whatever the occasion. The real question here is: what’s not to love?
